A-Plex walls deliver in large sizes up to 32' long and 10' high. The large size saves cost of site labour as well assuring greater airtightness. We also offer standard size smaller walls that do not require a crane to handle.
The heat reflecting Silverboard is back-taped on all edge to edge joints for perfect vapour and air tightness and zero thermal bridging -something no other wall can do. The interior wall is pre-drilled for electrical and empty of insulation so it is easy to wire and place all mechanical / then insulate after. Corner joins of the home and end to end joins are sealed with our 2 lb spray polyurethane foam.
Ultra-low thermal bridging of framing at windows, doors, and top and bottom plates. 2x6 framed walls as well as classic SIPs can often have significant thermal bridging from solid lumber from inside to outside at all openings as well as 3" at the top of the wall,
-while A-Plex only has 7/16". Furthermore our double top wall plates are glue laminated to a 7/16" sheathing making the whole top plate assembly stable to warping and separating in the heat of the sun for ZERO warping and ZERO air leakage.

Detailed features of our A-Plex wall
VERSITILE
We build-in all features of the wall in one quick and easy-lift onto the floor. Walls may be minimum or for extreme weather locations, pre-applied siding with window installation immediately after wall and roof installation. Stud size is primarily 2x4, but we shift to 2x6 for more insulation, higher loading, or more room for mechanical in the walls. |
This wall chart compares all of the real costs of conventional single walls vs A-Plex and also compares the resulting COST OF OWNERSHIP over time.
The bottom line? Not building smart with a cost effective system will be more expensive than code minimum..... We supply the lowest cost home to build when you include your savings on energy. The cost of building and paying the energy bills after needs to be considered to be fair to the benefits of more efficiency. Of course a code minimum wall costs less, but costs of heating or cooling start on the day the first utility bill arrives. Savings just for the walls only can is approximately $20 more -in your bank account every month! You don't have to wait for the payback period to save money. Savings over 25 years is very high and do not include the extra savings of smaller heating system installations. If your home has good passive solar gain for those chilly fall months your costs drop even more. |
We recommend the use of a rain-screen on the walls on every home.
We can pre-apply rain-screen so that the building is 98% ready for siding immediately -Saving many days of building preparations for siding. Our pricing for the pre-applied rain screen is much less than the cost of site applying it and we use dip treated battens 3/8" thick and set 12" o.c. and do not require ICQ rated fasteners. Rain-screen is code required on the west coast and properly done, adds high assurance of wall durability to weather and water intrusion in the harshest conditions. The rain-screen functions to create an air void behind the siding to eliminate capillary hold of moisture between the wall and the siding. As well, it drops the air pressure from wind driven moisture into the wall. Siding stability and paint durability is increased since the siding has a cooling plane behind it in hot sun exposure. |
